Our Epic Focus Journey

Tanner Health System is Advancing Health with medicine beyond measure. And we’re going further with a new electronic health record (EHR) utilizing the Epic system, the number one EHR in the world.

Based on the “one patient, one record” concept, Tanner’s new EHR provides the most complete record of the patient’s health on a single platform, accessible by all medical staff and clinicians. In addition, Tanner MyChart is a robust patient portal for scheduling appointments, requesting medication refills, checking lab results and receiving personalized disease management education.

The implementation of Epic is the most transformative project in the history of Tanner. It will:

  • Transform how Tanner cares for patients.
  • Transform how patients engage in their own care.
  • Help the health system gain efficiencies.
  • Lead to even better care to Tanner patients.

It’s a journey of about 14 months — including building the new system, transferring historical data, training Tanner team members, testing and then “Go-Lives” as Tanner officially moves to its new Epic system. Tanner Medical Group locations went live in July, and the five hospitals will go-live in November 2019.

This a time of significant change for the Tanner community, including team members, healthcare providers and patients.
