When Should I Use an Urgent Care?

When should you use an urgent care and not an emergency department?

When you have a cut that might need stitches. When you need a test and treatment for a possible urinary tract infection (UTI). When you have a bump, bruise or scrape that needs to be checked out.

And at Tanner, we have you covered with three regional urgent care locations.

Get medical care on your schedule

Tanner Urgent Care’s centers in Carrollton, Villa Rica and Bremen offer care on a walk-in basis, with weekdays, weekends and evenings available.

Consider Tanner Urgent Care if you need care for:

  • Nausea and diarrhea
  • Bumps, cuts and scrapes
  • Earache
  • Fever
  • Sinus pain
  • Cough or sore throat
  • Animal bites
  • Sprains and strains
  • Allergies
  • Rash
  • Minor burns
  • Burning with urination
  • Irritated eyes
  • Cold or flu symptoms

?At Tanner Urgent Care, your total health is in focus. If you need referral to a hospital emergency department, we’ll have you on your way to one of our four regional EDs.

When should you go to the hospital instead?

Our urgent care locations are great at treating a lot of minor emergencies, but severe emergencies need more significant treatments.

A severe emergency includes experiencing the symptoms of a heart attack, sudden cardiac arrest, stroke, trauma with severe bleeding, a mental health crisis and more. At Tanner, our emergency departments in Carrollton, Villa Rica and Bremen are accredited in stroke care, and our emergency departments in Carrollton and Villa Rica are accredited chest pain centers.

In addition, all our emergency departments provide mental health services through our Willowbrooke at Tanner behavioral health program.

Convenient care at urgent care

Our urgent care centers are nearby in west Georgia. In Carrollton, Villa Rica or Bremen, we’ve got you covered.

You can even reserve your place in line before you arrive with Tanner MyChart’s “On My Way” option, so you spend less time in the waiting room. Just provide a few basic details about your visit and you’ll be in line before you arrive. Be sure to check in with the registration staff when you get there.
