COVID-19 is a contagious disease spread primarily through respiratory particles released during coughing, sneezing and even talking. The best prevention is to avoid exposure. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the following precautions to prevent disease spread: Wash your hands often Avoid close contact with others by maintaining social distance of at least six feet Clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces Wear a face covering over your mouth and nose when out in public (optional, based on current guidelines) Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, discard the tissue and then wash your hands Avoid touching your face Will I be tested for COVID-19 before my screening? When your appointment is scheduled, you will be asked questions about potential COVID-19 symptoms and exposure risk. Is it safe to come to Tanner facilities? Yes, the safety of our patients, staff and visitors is Tanner’s priority. Infection prevention is – and always has been – what we do every day, with every patient, at Tanner. Precautions include: Appropriate use of telehealth visits and in-person appointments; Screening of Tanner Medical Group patients for symptoms and potential COVID-19 exposure; Hand sanitizing stations at all entries, exits and other critical areas within hospitals and Tanner Medical Group practices; Social distance accommodations during patient flow, including appointment scheduling; Rigorous and frequent cleaning and sanitizing of Tanner facilities, equipment and surfaces throughout the system, including a robot utilizing ultraviolet light; Personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand hygiene protocols, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), for healthcare staff; Visitor guidelines as outlined here in all five hospitals; Daily monitoring of all healthcare staff for illness.
