West Georgia Gastroenterology Associates Expands to Villa Rica, Adds Dr. Strauss



West Georgia Gastroenterology Associates is assuming operations for Tanner Medical Group’s Gastroenterology Associates, adding Villa Rica to its existing locations in Carrollton, Bremen and Newnan, as well as adding Robert M. Strauss, MD, to its patient care team.

Dr. Strauss is board-certified in gastroenterology and will serve in West Georgia Gastroenterology Associates’ new Villa Rica location. He earned his medical degree at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City and completed his internship and residency at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Strauss also completed a clinical and research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Prior to joining West Georgia Gastroenterology Associates, Dr. Strauss served as chief of gastrointestinal oncology at Emory University School of Medicine and as an associate professor of medicine at Emory. More recently, Dr. Strauss was on staff with Northwest Georgia Gastroenterology Associates and Gastrointestinal Specialists of Georgia in Marietta, and also served as a gastroenterology consultant for Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

West Georgia Gastroenterology Associates is the practice of these board-certified gastroenterology specialists: Howard Seeman, MD; John Arledge, MD; Thelma Lucas, MD; and Prashant Sharma, MD. Each provider with West Georgia Gastroenterology Associates is on the medical staff at Tanner Health System, with full privileges to perform diagnostic and surgical procedures at each of Tanner’s hospitals.

The West Georgia Gastroenterology Associates practice will operate in the former Gastroenterology Associates location on the first floor of the VillaWest medical office building on the Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica campus.
