Volunteers Sought to Lead New Peer Weight Loss Groups

We need you! Volunteer to become a leader with Get Healthy, Live Well and our new Weight Loss Groups.

Get Healthy, Live Well has an exciting new opportunity coming up and we are looking for community volunteers who are passionate about being healthy and helping others in achieving their goals.

Get Healthy, Live Well is developing a new approach to weight loss success and we need your help to make it happen. We are looking for individuals like you to volunteer to become Peer Weight Loss Leaders in the community. Peer Weight Loss Leaders are community volunteers who will lead small groups of people in their efforts to lose weight during the weight loss challenge and throughout the year. The groups will meet at a variety of locations throughout Carroll, Haralson and Heard Counties.

If you want to lead a group at your workplace, church or other organization, this is for you. If you don’t have a group to lead, we may be able to find participants who are looking for a leader.

The sessions will meet for one hour once a week for 12-weeks. Each session is structured so you will weigh in the participants as they come in, log their weight, go over a brief health lesson and then finish off with a fun and healthy activity such as a group walk, Zumba, yoga or an activity of your choice.

Get Healthy, Live Well will provide all of the materials and training that you will need to lead your group.

The Peer Weight Loss Leader training will be held:

Monday, Aug. 31, 2015
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton
Health Education and Wellness Learning Center
Classroom 3
Lunch will be provided.

To register, call Get Healthy, Live Well at 770.836.9871 or send an e-mail to gethealthy@tanner.org.
