Villa Rica Volunteers Present Donation

Chairman Jerry Bickers (left) and Treasurer Marianne Wilson (center) presented a check for $15,000 to Brian Dill, Executive Director, Tanner Foundation on behalf of the Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica Volunteers at their banquet on June 19.

The annual banquet celebrates the service and accomplishment of some of Tanner Health System’s most generous champions.

Volunteers heard remarks from Eric Dalton, MHA, Administrator, Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica; Jeanette Wheeler, Director of Volunteer Services, Tanner Health System; and Brian Dill, Executive Director, Tanner Foundation. The dinner was held at the Olive Tree in Villa Rica and was themed “A Night of Magic”, featuring a surprise act from magician, Justin Longshore.

43 regular volunteers and teen volunteers donated nearly 5,800 hours this year with volunteer leadership from Chairman Bickers, Treasurer Wilson, Hank Harper, Melba Harper, Belinda Randall, Peggy Sanker and Jim Taylor. This service represents an estimated monetary value of nearly $100,000.

In addition to their impressive gift of service, the volunteers make an annual gift of treasure to support the hospital’s patients and services. Their $15,000 gift was raised from the hospital’s Golden Treasures gift shop and special sales held throughout the year.

The effect of this generosity is felt by patients throughout the hospital. Newly appointed Cheer Carts spread good will across the hospital, especially to patient families. And in 2017, all of Tanner’s volunteer services and auxiliaries established an Auxiliary Endowment at Tanner Foundation, ensuring the impact of their generosity will be felt for generations to come.

Including their 2018 gifts, the cumulative donations from the auxiliaries and volunteer groups across Tanner Health System to Tanner Foundation since 1989 exceeds $2.3 million.

“Through your hard work in the hospital’s gift shop, front desk and special sales throughout the year, you make a positive difference for Tanner and our patients,” said Dill. “We thank you for your valuable contribution to Tanner’s mission by being a compassionate, healing presence in our community.”
