Tanner’s ‘State of the Heart’ Series Continues Feb. 28

There are many risk factors that can lead to cardiovascular disease — the leading cause of death in west Georgia and east Alabama. Learning the keys to a healthy heart can help you significantly decrease your risk for cardiovascular disease.

On Wednesday, Feb. 28, Tanner Heart Care’s “State of the Heart” series of educational discussions will continue with “The Beat Goes On,” featuring information on the risk factors for cardiovascular disease and reliable heart health tips to keep your heart beating strong.

Onaje Greene, MDOnaje Green, MD, a board-certified interventional cardiologist for Tanner Heart & Vascular Specialists, will lead the discussion on topics related to the heart, including how the heart works, heart health and how risk factors — such as age, genetics, diet, inactive lifestyle and prior health conditions — may lead to cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease, arrhythmia and more, as well as how these conditions increase your risk for other life-threatening emergency conditions such as heart attack, heart failure and stroke.

The presentation will begin at 6 p.m. in Classrooms A and B of Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica. A complimentary, heart-healthy dinner will be served. Seating is limited and registration is required. Those interested can register themselves and a guest online at www.tanner.org/stateoftheheart or call 770.214.CARE (2273) to register.

The classrooms are located on the third floor of the VillaWest medical office building adjacent to the hospital.

Tanner’s “State of the Heart” education series covers a range of topics related to heart health, and the public may join the series at any time.

“State of the Heart” is part of Tanner’s Advancing Your Health educational series, which provides residents with access to free health information from the region’s leading health experts covering a wide range of topics, including heart disease, orthopedics, urology, women’s health and more. Other upcoming educational opportunities can be found in the Classes and Events calendar at www.tanner.org/calendar.
