Tanner to Discuss ‘Creating Healthier Communities’ With May 14 Health Summit

What does it take to make one’s community healthier?

That will be the focus of Tanner Health System’s 2013 Community Health Summit, “Creating Healthier Communities,” on Tuesday, May 14, at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton’s Health Education and Wellness Learning Center.

The public is invited to learn more about establishing a healthier community and provide feedback from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Invitations have gone out for a special leadership summit, which will be held earlier that day at 11:30 a.m. Parking for the community summit at 6 p.m. will be available in the Dixie Street Parking Deck on the Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton campus.

The 2013 Community Health Summit is the second hosted by Tanner Health System, and the first under its new “Get Healthy, Live Well” initiative. It will feature a special presentation by Carl Hammerschlag, MD, a master storyteller and speaker. A Yale-trained psychiatrist, Dr. Hammerschlag has spent more than 20 years working to advance a unique mind-body-spirit approach to medicine, publishing several books on the subject.

Healthy snacks and refreshments will be served at the summit. Seating is limited, and residents can RSVP by calling 770.214.CARE (2273).
