Higgins General Hospital in Bremen has once again been recognized for continually raising the bar on performance and delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
Higgins General Hospital in Bremen, a 25-bed critical access hospital, recently earned the Press Ganey 2017 Pinnacle of Excellence award for maintaining consistently high levels of excellence over multiple years for patient experience in outpatient services.
This years marks the third consecutive year that Higgins General Hospital has earned The Pinnacle of Excellence award from Press Ganey, an independent firm that provides patient experience measurement, performance analytics and strategic advisory solutions for more than 22,000 healthcare organizations. The company partners with healthcare facilities to measure and improve the quality of their care.
The Pinnacle of Excellence award honors hospitals that have exhibited high levels of excellence for multiple years and have reached the 95th percentile in patient experience, employee engagement, physician engagement or clinical quality performance. This award is given annually to the three top performing organizations by category on the basis of extraordinary achievement.
To qualify for the award, a hospital must have exhibited excellent patient experience standards for the three previous years, and the criteria was met by six departments at Higgins General Hospital in outpatient services: radiology, lab, physical therapy, Cardiopulmonary, registration and environmental services.
“The outpatient departments go above and beyond to connect with their patients,” said Bonnie Boles, MD, MBA, administrator for Higgins General Hospital. “For example, two of our radiology departments are in outside buildings: ultrasound and MRI. Those technicians have to transport or walk the patients through the hospital and into an outside building no matter what the weather is like. These technicians make a special effort to personally connect with every patient, and it shows in their satisfaction scores.”
