First Annual School Safety Summit

The first annual Carroll County School Safety Summit, sponsored by Carroll County Sheriff Terry Langley, will be held on July 30 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Carroll County Ag Center in Carrollton.

This unprecedented event will bring together the safety teams from the Carroll County Schools’ elementary, middle and high schools with first responders from the county and state level for School Safety Training. The training will include an active shooter table-top activity conducted by Cynthia Daley (school system and county attorney), Major Craig Dotson (CCSO), Tim Padgett (CCSO) and David Goldberg (school system assistant superintendent).

School Safety Summit teams will collaborate with first responders from their municipalities and jurisdictions to build relationships and solidify emergency operations plans for the schools. The first responders scheduled to attend are the Carroll County Sheriff’s office, Carroll County Emergency Management, Carroll County E911, Carroll County Fire Rescue, Tanner Health System, West Georgia Ambulance, GEMA, Georgia State Patrol, Bowdon Police, Carrollton Police, Carrollton Fire, Mount Zion Police, Temple Police, Villa Rica Police and Whitesburg Police.

Due to the safety sensitive nature of the training, the press and public only will be allowed access to the first annual School Safety Summit from 8 to 8:30 a.m. for opening remarks by Sheriff Terry Langley and Superintendent Scott Cowart and introductions of the presenters.
