Empowering Families by the Spoonful

If you love to cook and have a passion for teaching others, volunteer with the Get Healthy, Live Well “Cooking Matters” program today.

cute kids in chef hats prepare mealWe need volunteers to teach our Cooking Matters nutrition-based cooking class. Chefs, nutrition educators and class assistants share their time and expertise to lead hands-on courses that show adults, teens and kids how to purchase and prepare nutritious foods in healthful, safe and tasty ways.

Classes will be meeting weekly for two hours over a six-week period at various locations throughout Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties. Get Healthy, Live Well and Cooking Matters Georgia will provide the training, curricula, kitchen supplies and staff support.

Benefits of volunteering:

  • Make a real difference in the lives of people at risk of hunger and obesity
  • Gain teaching experience
  • Meet a new and diverse group of people
  • Do something new and have fun!

Hands on training will include preparing a recipe for lunch.

To learn more or attend the Cooking Matters instructor training, please contact Gina Brandenburg, Get Healthy, Live Well Program Manager at 770.836.9282 or gbrandenburg@tanner.org. Made possible with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
