Bingo, Bids and Breast Health

Fourth Annual Bingo for Boobies Returns March 2

On March 2, one of the area’s most popular fundraising events returns to Randolph County High School Auditorium in Wedowee, Ala. The fourth annual Bingo for Boobies continues the fight against breast cancer, the second most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States.

Thanks to widespread community support, Bingo for Boobies has raised more than $35,000 over the last three years to benefit Tanner Foundation’s Mammogram Assistance Fund, which provides life-saving mammograms for local women who could not otherwise afford one.

When it comes to breast cancer, early detection is key and annual mammograms are considered the first line of defense in the detection and treatment of breast cancer.

The American Cancer Society projects that more than 270,000 new cases and 42,260 deaths from breast cancer will occur this year, yet many women go without an annual mammogram because they fear they can't afford it. Tanner Foundation’s Mammogram Assistance Fund works to ensure all area women have access to this lifesaving screening.

Organizers Pat Laney, Carol Ann Traylor and Donna Maner invite community members of all ages to join in the fun at Randolph County’s fourth annual Bingo for Boobies, which will include bingo prizes, auction items for bid, door prizes and raffle prizes. Admission is free, and a $5, $10 or $15 donation is requested for Bingo play.

“Mammography on the Move,” Tanner Health System’s mobile mammography unit, will also be on-site in the parking lot to provide mammograms on a walk-up or appointment basis.

The Woodland Area Civic Club will provide delicious concessions, and there will be a silent and live auction, with items being added daily. The live auction begins at 1 p.m. CT.

Auction highlights include a party from Tickled Pink Petting Zoo, a two-night stay at the Holiday Inn beside The Opryland Hotel, a gas grill from Lowe’s Carrollton and a two-night stay at Hawkesdene Estate in North Carolina. Auction donations are still being accepted and are appreciated.

Sponsorships are still available and additional information can be found on the Bingo for Boobies Facebook page.
