Austin J. Lewis, MD, Joins Carrollton Surgical Group

Austin J. Lewis, MD, is joining the patient care team at Carrollton Surgical Group, part of Tanner Medical Group, further increasing access to advanced surgical care to communities throughout west Georgia and east Alabama.
Dr. Lewis earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Dr. Lewis is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and he is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Fundamentals of Critical Care Support and Advanced Burn Life Support. Dr. Lewis is also an advanced trauma life support instructor. During his training, he obtained advanced skills in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. His clinical interests include advancing surgical outcomes through clinical quality improvement initiatives.
At Carrollton Surgical Group, Dr. Lewis joins a dedicated team of board-certified surgeons: Brian Barden, MD; José Espinel, MD; David Griffin, MD; Barry Harris, MD; Thomas Reeve, MD; and Jon Stanford, MD. The practice has locations in Carrollton, Villa Rica and Bremen. And with Tanner, he brings the latest training and innovative approaches to care to the state-of-the-art surgical centers in Carrollton, Villa Rica and Bremen, featuring minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery.
