Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton Construction Updates

Rendering of new patient bed tower at Tanner Medical Center/CarrolltonTanner Health is taking bold steps to improve access to care in west Georgia and improve the comfort and experience of patients on its Carrollton campus.

Tanner is building a new, three-story patient tower at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton. The almost 97,000-square-foot expansion is being built atop the hospital’s emergency department. The project will ensure bed space is available for those in our community who need it, reducing congestion in our emergency departments and ensuring a better of care and a better patient experience for years to come.

This page will be updated as access to our Carrollton hospital campus changes to make sure our patients, visitors and staff are informed.

Parking changes at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton

Ensuring our patients and visitors have easy access to our hospital is our top priority throughout this project.

While some spaces on the hospital campus will be lost during the project, we’re making efforts to ensure a comfortable, convenient visit.

  • Free parking is available in the Dixie Street Parking Deck, near the corner of Dixie Street and Ambulance Drive. Enter the hospital and use the elevators to go to the first floor for hospital access.
  • Patient and visitor parking is also available in the Clinic Avenue Parking Deck along Ambulance Drive. Access Ambulance Drive from Dixie Street or Professional Place.
  • Hospital staff are encouraged to use the parking deck at the Tanner Health Pavilion, across Dixie Street from the hospital, freeing up parking spaces on the hospital campus.

Free valet parking

Free valet parking is available at several hospital entrances:

  • The Emergency drop-off zone, accessible from Clinic Avenue, 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • The Outpatient and Surgical Services entrance, along Clinic Avenue, from 5 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday
  • The John H. Burson III, MD, Atrium along Dixie Street, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday

Free valet service is also available at the West Georgia Specialty Center and the Tanner Health Pavilion.

Access to Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton

Use the Short Stay/Outpatient entrance on Clinic Avenue, the John H. Burson III, MD, Atrium along Dixie Street, or the elevators in the Clinic Avenue or Dixie Street parking decks.

Entering Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton after hours

The John H. Burson III, MD, Atrium on the Dixie Street side of the hospital is open until 9 p.m.

After 9 p.m., use the elevator entrance from the Clinic Avenue Parking Deck. Take the elevator to the ground floor of the hospital and follow the signs to the security access point. Tanner Security will grant you access to the hospital.
